Biosortia has early insight into the ever evolving life-science world and believes that a major new research dynamic is at the very beginning of delivering a wealth of new products, technologies, patents, and meaningful data in the new field of Microbiomics. Microbiomics will be the major source of opportunities in biotech and biotech communities within ten years, likely surpassing the delivery of all new life science opportunities over all existing discovery focuses.

A Problem/Challenge We Are Working To Solve: 

Pharmaceutical and Agricultural applications:

1. Require novel, potent, and active molecules that hit a target. Microbiomes are rich untapped sources of these natural pre-optimized small molecules,

2. Culturing microbes has limited success, less than 1% of microbes are culturable. Indirect access to chemistry through the infinite omics approach (genes, computational, synthetic biology) has proved very costly with limited success.

Biosortia solves these problems and limitations through its unique capabilities to obtain hidden small molecules from microbes in aquatic microbiomes. The resulting natural product chemistry are ideal starting points for drug discovery, contain complete data sets - environmental, biologic, chemistry, genomics of metabolic pathways of microbiome in a given habitat, and provide extensive overlap in chemistry between all microbiomes. Aquatic microbiome sourcing also allows diverse and extreme habitat prospecting for novel small molecules.
