Headquartered in New York City and with a presence around the world, Verizon generated revenues of $131.9 billion in 2019. What’s a Trend You’re Seeing/Prediction for the Future:
We are on the cusp of a technological revolution that will fundamentally change how we live, work and play. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is blurring the lines between physical and digital.
Everything that can be connected will be. Some call it the “Cyber Physical” era, building on such technologies as artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, robotics and biotechnology to prime a fresh wave of innovation … all of it enabled by the low latency, extraordinary speeds, and continuous connectivity of next-generation wireless technology: 5G.
Verizon’s 5G is the fastest in the world and we are working with industry partners to build 5G solutions that will revolutionize our future.
A 5G-powered world will enable more effective healthcare for those who need it most using robotics over a 5G network, transform traffic through monitoring and optimizing traffic lights in real time, enable autonomous vehicles, serve as a fundamental platform for the Internet of Things, create smarter, more efficient manufacturing, and fuel technology innovations that literally have not been invented yet.
A Problem/Challenge We Are Working To Solve:
Covid-19 has amplified the need for digital inclusion for all ages. As a pillar of Verizon’s corporate social responsibility platform – Citizen Verizon – we are committed to digital inclusion to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to realize the benefits of technology and participate in the digital economy.
Since 2012, Verizon Innovative Learning program has provided over $535M across the United States, including Ohio, towards STEM education, helping under-resourced communities bridge the digital divide with a comprehensive approach that provides devices and connectivity, while also ensuring that students and teachers gain the digital literacy skills they need to use the technology effectively and thrive in a digital world. And these are the same skills students are using today to engage in remote learning.
Verizon Innovative Learning Schools provide schools with dedicated technology coaches and support to train teachers on effectively integrating technology into the classroom, across all subjects. 93% of our teachers agree that there teaching remotely is easier to implement because of their role as a Verizon supported teacher. Additionally, Verizon Innovative learning is igniting these students’ interest in STEM careers, providing them the opportunity to become lifelong learners, creators, and problem solvers.
Additionally, Verizon opened its first Verizon Innovative Learning 5G lab in the country, right here in a Cleveland middle school. The lab has 3D printers, two virtual reality stations, and other cutting-edge technology to allow for more immersive collaboration that turns lesson plans into living, breathing, dynamic experiences.
Verizon also deploys local philanthropy and employee volunteers to support digital inclusion and digital literacy efforts across Ohio.
Company Slogan:
Verizon creates the networks that move the world forward.
Why is Ohio is a great place to do business?
Ohio recognizes the power of technology to attract business. Ohio also ranks among the world’s largest economies – rich with resources, technology, education, globally recognized companies and skilled Ohioans with a strong work ethic. Given that, it’s no surprise Verizon has almost 2,400 employees across the state and has invested over $600M in plant and equipment statewide towards technology infrastructure deployments in 2019.
