Sens. Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus) and Michele Reynolds (R-Canal Winchester) and Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna) will be featured at “Ohio Tech Day” events Friday, with Reynolds hosting one at the Statehouse while Craig and Brown Piccolantonio are guests at the TECH CORPS site in Columbus.

Ohio Tech Day includes events around the state meant to raise awareness of “the role tech and innovation play in Ohio’s economy and to inspire our next generation of tech leaders,” according to its website. Those include local events, virtual offerings and social media engagement.

The “POWERUP Career Expo” hosted by Reynolds will be held in the Statehouse Atrium and Rotunda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, with 75 employers registered. It will connect local job-seekers with businesses as well as provide help in resume writing and interview skills.

“The tech industry has found a home in Central Ohio as we develop into the Silicon Heartland. This is great news for businesses and those looking to kickstart careers in tech,” Reynolds said. “The POWERUP Career Expo will connect our workforce with our area employers, building strong futures for all Ohioans.”

Craig and Brown Piccolantonio’s event is focused on “celebrating girls in tech” and also features Franklin County Commissioner and former legislator Erica Crawley and Columbus City Councilmember Christopher Wyche. It runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will showcase the talents and accomplishments of students at schools in Columbus, Licking Heights and Hilliard. As part of a “Tech Energizer,” students will work with representatives from Google data centers in Central Ohio on coding. They will also have the chance to ask the representatives career-related questions.

More information on the overall events is available at OhioTechDay.org.
