Steven Hong is the CEO and Co-Founder of Oculii, a radar software company enabling the next generation of autonomous systems. In this episode we talk with Steven about why he returned home to Ohio from Silicon Valley in order to build his startup and the lessons he learned from his time at Stanford and one of the world's best known Venture Capital firms.

Using aperture imaging software that dynamically learns and adapts to the environment, Oculii’s proprietary virtual aperture imaging software increases the resolution of any radar hardware by up to 100x.

Prior to his experience at Oculii, Steven was a partner at Kleiner Perkins where he was a member of the hardtech investing team. Before KP, Steven co-founded Kumu Networks where he was responsible for product management, fundraising, IP strategy, business development, and marketing. Steven started his career as a management/strategy consultant at McKinsey and Uber, where he specialized in M&A diligence and expansion strategy.

Steven holds a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University where he won several best paper awards for his research and graduated at age 23, completing both degrees in 3 years.
