Name: Chris Berry
Job: Founder and CEO at Echelle Resources, Inc.

Q: What do you do at Echelle Resources, Inc.?
Echelle’s mission is to provide high quality custom I.T. solution to automotive manufacturing industry. Using our Avondale suite of tools which ranging IoT, customized logging and data mining. To our validation and QA support teams which provide manufacturers verification to ensure compliance, pre-defined and specified business requirements as well as customer demands are meet.
Q: What’s a problem that you are working to solve?
Broadening the incorporation of IoT in the manufacturing space. At Echelle, we are pushing the boundaries of Information Technology by providing manufacturing companies custom solutions that will result in a data driven ecosystem. We are building a platform that will collect pre-production data that will be analyzed with these results we can predict failures in hardware and software before they go to market.
Using my experience as a software engineer, my priority has always been to provide quality software that is efficient and scalable. With the increasing demand to automate the manufacturing process Echelle’s goal is to help elevate the stress and difficulty for out manufacturing partners.
Q: What’s a lesson you’ve learned that has helped shaped your work?
You must be willing to change quickly. While serving in the United States Air Force, you learn that you must be able to improvise, adapt and overcome most situations that are presented to you. I have learned in order to be successful you have to be willing to change and accept change. This willingness requires both strategy and execution.
In this era of IT business, it is fair to assume that every idea you have has more than likely been tried. Echelle is not the first to apply technological change to manufacturing, but I would say we are part of the few that can adapt to change quickly while applying a strategic vision and execution to it.
Q: What’s a trend in technology or innovation that you believe doesn’t get enough attention?
Telemedicine and Grocery store delivery systems should be given more attention due to COVID-19.
Telemedicine provides care to underserved communities. This could also serve as a platform for physicians to collaborate. These services could reduce patient appointment cancellations and reduce the cost of healthcare.
Grocery store delivery services could be expanded to include more inner city and rural areas to provide healthy, more affordable options for residents.
Q: What’s one moonshot idea that could help make Ohio a world leader in technology and innovation?
I feel technology in early education would set Ohioans on a path of local and national growth. Younger students are more adept at solving issues that directly impact their community better than corporations and most adults.
Giving elementary through high school kids the technical tools early in their educational experience could lead to a positive change that would reap benefits we all can enjoy.
Q: What’s a recent book, podcast or news story that you found interesting?
Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds by David Goggins. This book was referred to me by another veteran as a must read. I’ve been following Goggins for some time on Instagram and when I heard he had a book I jumped at the chance to read it.
Q: What's your favorite place in Ohio?
Ohio Stadium during a home game is amazing! With over 100,000 in the stadium and more outside tailgating, it truly is an iconic venue. It’s awesome to think that when OSU plays Michigan at home, the Ohio stadium has more people in it than most cities in the state of Ohio.
Q: What makes Ohio special to you?
The Buckeye state is home to me. Growing up in southeastern Ohio you develop a sense of community. Living in Columbus I enjoy the sense of community as well as the work/life opportunities.
