Name: Connie Matthews Reynolds
Job: Founder and CEO of ReynCo
City: Columbus, Ohio
Q: Tell us about your job.
I am the Founder and CEO of ReynCon. ReynCon focuses on training and development in InfoSec/Cybersecurity domains. We work with companies to build comprehensive programs that drive positive change in the business and upskill their teams.
Q: How did you get into tech?
Technology and Security are such dynamic fields. I have always loved technology since I was in high school. I get bored quickly and have never been bored once in information security. I love being in tech.
Q: What can Ohio do to support and promote women in tech?
We can continue encouraging women to consider careers in Technology/Security. If we can embrace that we all bring a slightly different perspective to the table, it allows us and the teams we are around to be much more successful. It’s also essential to have allies and support to help us all be successful.
Q: How does advancing technology affect the cybersecurity landscape?
Technology is ever-changing and moves very quickly. Security teams need to share, and collaboration is a must to be positioned to fight against cybercrime. We do that by staying on top of where the industry is going and what technologies organizations and individuals will want to implement. Security teams must develop strong relationships across the business and be true partners.
Q: How do you stay on top of the latest technology, such as AI?
When I look at technology, it continuously changes rapidly; organizations must embrace and build governance around AI and any emerging technology. Keeping up with technology is easier when you stay informed and can make decisions aligned with business objectives and needs.
Q: Why is it important to help organizations build their competence in cybersecurity rather than just doing everything for them?
Training and developing your team’s skills is necessary in the technology landscape. As technology changes rapidly, we need to give our teams a way to keep current. We are seeing training become a requirement as part of compliance, cyber insurance, and regulations.
Q: What do you do for fun when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two Chiweenies, Tex and Woody. I enjoy spending time with friends, watching Ohio State and college football, cooking, theater, and music.
