First ever Ohio Tech Day a success!

This first ever Ohio Tech Day presented by Facebook is in the books! On Friday, September 24th, companies, schools, and organizations from across the state celebrated tech in Ohio and inspired high school students to consider careers in innovation.

Ohio Tech Day kicked off bright and early at 8:30 am with remarks from OhioX President Chris Berry and Amber Tillman, Facebook’s Community Development Manager. This statewide audience was then treated with a video showing how Facebook’s New Albany Data Center, and their Ohio employees, make the company’s work possible.

Next up was Ohio Tech Day’s keynote speaker, Lt. Governor Jon Husted. Under the leadership of Lt. Governor Husted, InnovateOhio is advancing the DeWine Administration’s commitment to leading an aggressive, innovative path towards a better and stronger Ohio.

Our first panel conversation of the day brought together five students from diverse backgrounds and passions for tech. Three were high school students and two in college. From nonprofit founders to Robotics Team Captains, these students are sure to be amazing innovators.

The toughest act of the day was our Tech Pro Panel which had to follow these amazing students. Thanks to Jessica Cohen of Verizon for moderating the conversation and to Naveed Iqbal of Dolr, Tonjia Coverdale of Nationwide, Victor Paini of Facebook, and David Condo of the FBI for sharing their work.

Our Tech Pro panel offered career advice for students and shared what innovations have them most excited for the future.
