2022 #OhioTechDay gets tech trending across Ohio
The second annual #OhioTechDay presented by Meta was held on Friday, September 30th. Companies, schools, and non-profits across Ohio celebrated their tech and used the day to inspire students to explore innovation career opportunities.
Lately, there’s been much talk about building a “Silicon Heartland” in Ohio. This is only possible if our state has a strong and diverse tech-focused workforce. And it starts with education and ensuring every Ohio student has an opportunity to learn and explore.
The Day Kicks off with #OhioTechDay TV
#OhioTechDay always begins with virtual content on #OhioTechDay TV (aka our YouTube channel). We watched remarks and chats from Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, Secretary of State Frank LaRose, and the student designers of the 2022 #OhioTechDay logo. We learned how Meta connects the world and what a data center does. And students explored tech careers by watching programs with tech pros across Ohio.
Local events across the state
Not just online, there were local #OhioTechDay celebrations at companies, schools, and non-profits across Ohio. Some businesses invited local students to tour their office. Some schools had tech pros as guest speakers. And some groups used the day to explore new technology like VR headsets and drones. (there’s a bunch of great pics from across Ohio below)
#OhioTechDay logo
This year, the official #OhioTechDay logo was designed by high school student. These designers, Dublin City School students part of the State of Ohio’s High School Tech Internship program, spent their summer interning at OSA Technology Partners in Downtown Columbus. We turned the logo into 10,000 stickers and sent them out to schools across the state.
This summer project will now be an annual tradition.
