Meet Barton Dunn

Orchestrating Technology Solutions at WidePoint

In our latest member spotlight series, we're featuring Barton Dunn, a technology leader who's helping organizations navigate the complex landscape of secure identity management and telecommunications services.

The Professional Path

As Director of Client Services at WidePoint Integrated Solutions Corp., Barton orchestrates the delivery of critical technology-managed services to federal agencies and commercial clients. His work spans telecommunications management, secure identity solutions, and innovative products like Mobile Anchor, serving organizations from the Department of Homeland Security to the Department of Defense.

"Every day brings something different, and that's what I love about my role," Barton shares. "From collaborating with project managers to enhancing our proprietary platform, we're constantly working to ensure our clients receive the best possible support for their unique needs."

From Circuit City to Cybersecurity

Barton's tech journey began early, teaching himself BASIC programming and tinkering with computers at home. "I've been a 'techie' for as long as I can remember," he recalls. His professional career took off at Verizon Wireless, starting in their Circuit City kiosk channel. "The combination of mobility tech mixed with all that Circuit City had to offer was awesome, and it just continued to escalate from there." Since joining WidePoint in 2014, he's been at the forefront of secure identity and telecommunications management solutions.

Innovation Insights

When asked about underappreciated trends in tech, Barton looks beyond the AI buzz to highlight two fascinating areas: bioprinting and wireless power. "Imagine a future where a kidney transplant doesn't require a matching donor, they just 'print' you a new one," he explains. "Or envision a warehouse where machinery, lighting, and sensors all operate without cables – that's the potential of wireless power technology."

Beyond the Code

A Westerville native who still calls the city home, Barton brings an unexpected passion to his technical expertise. "I've had an on-again, off-again relationship with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over 10 years now," he reveals. "Life has thrown some curveballs that put training on pause from time to time, but I keep coming back to my BJJ family."

When he's not coordinating client solutions or exploring emerging technologies, you might find Barton at Fox in the Snow Café, possibly strategizing his next project or planning his return to the BJJ mat. His commitment to both technological innovation and personal growth exemplifies the diverse talents within Ohio's tech community.
