Meet Kdusan Araya
Bringing Salesforce Innovation to CGI Inc.
In our latest installment of our member spotlight series, we're featuring Kdusan Araya, a Software Developer who's bringing fresh perspectives to Columbus's tech scene.
The Professional Path
Currently serving as a Salesforce Developer at CGI Inc., Kdusan plays a vital role in one of the world's leading IT and business consulting firms. At CGI, she designs and implements customized Salesforce solutions that help clients transform their operations and maximize their digital investments. Her work specifically focuses on enhancing public sector strategies and modernizing legacy systems.
"A typical day involves collaborating with teams, exploring emerging technologies, and staying connected with the Columbus tech community," Kdusan shares. "I particularly enjoy learning from architects and participating in local Salesforce ecosystem groups."
From Political Consulting to Tech
Kdusan's journey into tech began unexpectedly at a political consulting firm, where running SQL queries sparked her interest in technology. This curiosity led her to Color Coded Labs, where she completed their JavaScript program. "They have played a crucial role in my transformation," she reflects, "not just by teaching me technical skills, but by connecting me with people who have greatly contributed to my success."
Innovation Insights
When asked about underappreciated trends in tech, Kdusan highlights Salesforce's evolution beyond traditional CRM functions. "While many view it solely as a customer relationship management tool, its capabilities in automation, data analytics, and integration with other systems are transformative for businesses," she explains. "This broader application can drive innovation and efficiency across various industries, yet it often remains underappreciated."
Beyond the Code
A San Diego native now calling Columbus home, Kdusan's life story includes a fascinating chapter that shaped her worldview. "Although I was born and raised in San Diego, my parents retired early and moved back to Ethiopia, where I finished high school," she shares. This experience provided her with unique perspectives on culture, education, and identity before returning to San Diego for college.
When she's not coding or exploring Salesforce innovations, you might find Kdusan at her favorite local coffee spot, Upper Cup off Parsons, possibly contemplating her next tech solution or community initiative.
