Meet Carmen Savarino. Community Manager at OhioX.

Name: Carmen Savarino

Title and Company: Community Manager, OhioX

City: Dublin, Ohio

Q: What’s your role at OhioX?

I work as a community manager to help keep everything running behind the scenes. OhioX has lots of moving parts, and our committees and volunteers come together to make it all happen. I am a resource to our community to help it grow and thrive.

Q: As you’re getting to know the Ohio tech community, what’s something that’s surprised you?

I have been impressed by the diversity of tech companies in Ohio! Everyday I'm blown away by the talent and innovation in our state and the willingness to collaborate.

Q: What’s a (non Ohio) tech trend that more people should be following?

As a trained classical singer and lover of the arts, I've been following the use of AI and how it is disrupting the music and art industry as the technology becomes increasingly advanced, allowing it to replicate human creativity. There are some great benefits to AI in the art community though, as it can be used as a tool to help artists explore new creative possibilities and collaborate across different mediums and disciplines. I'll be interested to watch this trend and how it evolves over the next few years.

Q: What’s your favorite Ohio tech story from the last year and why?

I have been following the use of 3D printing in the healthcare space and love how this technology is being used all over the state. Several institutions have developed a technique for creating 3D-printed scaffolds that can be used to grow new organs. The technique involves using a special 3D printer to create a scaffold out of a biodegradable material, which is then seeded with cells that can grow into the desired organs. The possibilities for growing the perfect organ match for a patient are unbelievable.
